Questions we get a lot
How do I verify my university email?
Sign up with your university address and we email you a verification link. Open it and your account is active. If it has not arrived in a few minutes, check your junk folder — university mail filters are enthusiastic.
I forgot my password. How do I get back in?
Tap “Forgot password?” where you log in, and enter your university email. We email you a link that works once, for an hour: open it and choose a new password. That logs you out on every other device.
What happens when I get matched?
You drop straight into a private room with one other student. You are both anonymous, you both get a fresh handle, and either of you can leave whenever you like.
How do I report someone?
Use the report control on a rant or a forum post, or email safety@jini.com.au with what happened. Every report is looked at within twenty-four hours.
Is my university supported?
We currently cover 42 Australian universities across every state and territory. If your institution is missing, email us and we will look at adding its domain.
How long are my messages kept?
Chat messages are deleted 24 hours after the chat ends, so a bad conversation can still be reported. A chat that is reported, or that ended after trouble, is kept a little longer for moderators. The privacy policy says exactly how long. There is no permanent transcript to go looking for later.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, yourself, from your profile: Delete your account, then confirm with your password. It happens straight away. A few things are kept for a while for safety; the privacy policy says what and for how long.
