What we believe

The Jini manifesto

Five things we decided before we wrote a line of code, and have not changed our minds about since.

1

Connection should be real

Social media turned everyone into a highlight reel. You swipe on photos, judge on follower counts, and connect on metrics that have nothing to do with whether you would enjoy each other. Somewhere in that we lost the point.

2

Anonymity enables honesty

Strip away the photos, the bio, the social proof, and what is left is the most honest version of a person. On Jini you are read for what you say, because there is nothing else to read.

3

University is where it starts

Jini is for verified Australian university students and nobody else. You are not talking to strangers on the other side of the world — you are talking to someone who might be in your lecture tomorrow, sitting three rows back.

4

Safety without surveillance

We check your university email so the room is safe, and then we get out of the way. We do not read your conversations, sell your data, or build a profile on you. Privacy is not a premium feature.

5

The reveal is yours

After a good conversation you can choose to show each other who you are — but only if you both choose it. No forced reveals, no accidental exposure, no way for anyone to unmask you.

Jini is not an app. It is a bet that the best conversations start with a sentence, not a face.
